Founded in 2016, it took them less than five years to challenge the industry and make other competitors rethink their values and priorities. Onebed is proud that their mattresses suit everyone’s taste, in addition to cutting all unnecessary costs in the supply chain.

Material & Construction

Onebed offers three types of mattresses, and we will cover a review on all of them.

Onebed Essential 8’’

This mattress is a game-changer – it’s made of high-quality materials, but thanks to its two-inch base foam reduction, it’s affordable to any budget. Other than the height difference, this doesn’t affect mattress quality. It includes two layers:

  • Comfort layer – Three-inch memory foam with a cooling gel.
  • Support layer – Five-inch base foam that keeps your spine in a good alignment.

Onebed Original 10’’

The level-up mattress will provide you with customisable support and perfect motion isolation, making it the most popular Onebed mattress. It has a dimpled removable cover, made of woven plush polyester.

  • Dunlop Latex Layer – 4 cm thick, helps in temperature regulation and ensures a responsive bounce.
  • Viscoelastic Memory Foam – 4 cm thick layer that perfectly adapts to your body figure, and therefore relieves pressure points, will leave you feeling super cosy.
  • Polyurethane Base Foam – an 18 cm thick layer will give you a strong foundation for your good night’s sleep.

Onebed X 12’’

Onebed’s luxury edition mattress is a hybrid standing side-to-side with the best industry competitors. It’s made from highly breathable viscose, with the same dimple-textured cover as Onebed Original.

A premium layer-specific for Onebed X is the charcoal memory foam layer, a feature shared with other high-end mattresses, such as Noa Luxe. Of course, no premium mattress can get away without pocket springs. Onebed X includes the sophisticated pocketing system, made of responsive steel springs, organised into five zones for maximum support.

Firmness

Onebed Essential is a medium-firm memory foam mattress that will accommodate most sleepers at a no-time adjusting speed. Unlike some of its competitors, Onebed Original can be personalised to be medium, firm, or medium-firm, thanks to its customisable support. All you need to do is adjust the layers combining one of the three options. Its layers have a responsive bounce that can adapt to any body figure, while the rest stays unaffected, unlike other foam mattresses.

You can set it up on any base you prefer, as long as it is stable and provides airflow. That includes slatted frames, ensemble, and adjustable frames.

On the other hand, Onebed X has a built-in gradual firmness, meaning the base gives you much-needed support, with a gradual transition to softness as it moves to the surface. It’s a well-balanced combination of memory foam and pocket springs designed for maximum comfort.

Comfort & Support

The idea behind the construction was to make customers feel weightless while lying in their Onebed mattress.

Onebed Original 10’’ is designed for every body type and sleep position. This is achieved by a customisable support system that you can set according to your preference. Thanks to this, it is perfectly suitable for any sleeping position, including a medium setting for side sleepers or firm for back sleepers and front sleepers. However, if you want a mattress with more substantial edge support, you may want to consider Sleeping Duck as another option.

Onebed X can brag about the same and more. Being two inches taller, it is richer in cushioning, meaning that its comfort and support features are even more enhanced. What’s more, the memory foam layer is designed to take the pressure off depending on your dominant sleeping position. For example, if you’re used to sleeping on your side, it will relieve pressure around your shoulders and hips.

Moreover, thanks to its 5-zoned pocket springs, the weight is distributed evenly throughout the mattress.

Edge Support

While foam beds do not normally excel at edge support, Onebed makes up for it with sturdy foam base layers to prevent any sagging. Moreover, the warranty will cover any sagging over 20mm.

Being a hybrid, Onebed X will surely provide you with the support you need. If you want to check similar hybrids, look into the Eva mattress.

The customer reviews on their official website claim that purchasing the Onebed mattress fits perfectly for heavier sleepers or during pregnancy and that it only took them days to adjust to it.

Temperature Regulation

Each mattress has a specific temperature regulating system. Onebed Essential and Original are made from highly breathable foams, which helps them stay cool and fresh throughout the night. Essential has a gel-infused layer, while Original has latex as the top layer.

The same goes for Onebed X, but with a bonus feature – its charcoal memory foam is known for its high-absorbing capabilities and temperature regulation, making it a perfect mattress for extreme hot sleepers.

Motion Transfer

Independent reviews report that you can’t feel your partner’s movements when sleeping in Onebed. Although Onebed Original and X have advanced zero motion transfer techniques, all three options passed the wine glass test.

A combination of memory foam and latex in Onebed Original 10 ensures perfect cushioning. If either you or your partner are combo sleepers and tend to toss around during the night, rest assured you won’t be waking each other up.

However, if we had to pick one out of three with the best motion isolation, it would have to be Onebed X because of its combination of foam and pocket springs.

Durability & Maintenance

Onebed mattresses have a removable, machine-washable cover, making them extremely easy to clean and keep as fresh as new throughout the years. Moreover, the charcoal memory foam layer inside Onebed X is odour-repelling and pretty much self-maintaining.

These mattresses don’t require you to flip them, but rotating them at 180 degrees every 3-6 months is recommended. In the beginning, you can do it even more often.

Mattress Accessories

To enjoy your new mattress to its full potential, you may want to add a few extra items. We’ll recommend some essentials from the Onebed accessory line.

Mattress Protector

Onebed’s comfy mattress protector has many essential qualities:

The prices vary from $120 to $200, depending on the mattress’ size. Keep in mind that there’s a special 40% off deal at the moment, so you can get this protector for around $70. What’s more, it’s warranty-covered for the next five years.

  • Waterproof
  • Antibacterial
  • Dust mite resistant
  • Tear resilient

Onebed Pillow

Another item that proves Onebed has optimised the efficiency of its products. This pillow is height-adjustable to suit many different preferences, so you really can’t go wrong with it. This is achieved by fragmenting foam parts instead of using one big chunk. Thanks to this, you can take out the excessive parts until you reach the perfect height level.

This pillow has a dual-layered design, with a breathable cover that will keep you fresh and cool throughout the night.

Adjustable Frame

Onebed’s breakthrough is the adjustable steel frame available in all standard sizes and is compatible with most if not all-foam mattresses.

It is remote-controlled to switch between positions. This luxurious experience comes at a very affordable price, as well as the rest of Onebed’s products. This is highly comfortable for different activities, such as reading, watching TV, and has many health benefits.

You can use this frame alone if you want to achieve a clean, minimalistic look, but it’s also designed to fit most bed frames if you only wish to use its customisable features within the existing bed base. It’s easy to assemble and warranty-covered for five years.

A pro-tip is to experiment with two Long Single frames so that you and your partner can position the mattress however you want without compromising.

From other Onebed accessories, we recommend you a Foam Mattress Topper, Sateen Woven Sheets, or a Luxurious Quilt.

Warranty & Trial Period

There is a generous 125-night trial. In case you’re not satisfied with the bed after your trial expires, the company will pick it up for free and give you a full refund. If you’re wondering what happens to the mattress, it is donated to The Salvation Army.

Note: The trial, however, requires you to test the mattress for at least 30 days.

The warranty lasts for 10-15 years, depending on which mattress you choose. For example, Onebed Essential is warranty-covered for ten years, whereas Onebed Original and X are under warranty for 15 years.

The warranty covers potential sagging greater than 20mm or any manufacturing faults.

In case you want to check the conditions or stumble upon any issues with your new mattress, you can contact the Support Team via phone call, email, or live chat 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Mattress Delivery

These mattresses come delivered in a box, so transferring them is as easy as it can be. Onebed Essential and Original are packed in a 1m box, whereas Onebed X is double the size. You can sleep on it the same day, although it takes around five days for them to reach the maximum form.

You’ll be provided with a delivery time estimation during checkout, but keep in mind this only includes business days. Shipping is free, and you can arrange the optimal time with the Support Team. The company advises not to keep your new mattress inside the box longer than two months.

As for the adjustable frame, it comes packed in two boxes along with the instructions and tools, and the company promises the setup is very easy.

Verdict: Is this the mattress for you?

Onebed focuses on delivering the best quality-to-price mattresses and doesn’t prioritise ‘gimmicky marketing’, as they put it. That’s why it’s easier to persuade customers to turn to other competitors, but you should be smarter than that.

As we explained in our Onebed Mattresses review, all three options are top solutions to all your sleep-related issues. Whatever the budget, Onebed’s got you covered.

1. How long does Onebed take to decompress?

It will decompress within a few minutes, and you can sleep on it the same day. However, it may take up to five days to reach its original state.

2. What is Onebed made of?

All three Onebed Mattresses are made of high-quality foams, but they differ somewhat. For example, Onebed Original includes an additional latex layer, while Onebed X is pocket-springs based.

3. Which mattress is the best for back pain?

Firmer mattresses are recommended for back pain, but they also need to be designed in a pressure-relieving way. A unique Onebed feature is its Adjustable Frame, which is ideal if you’re experiencing back pain as it can offer you different positions.

4. Where is Onebed manufactured?

Onebed is an Australia-based company, including their warehouses, but is consciously manufactured in China. You may want to read our Onebed Mattress Review for additional information.
