The recently released One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows translates the high-speed action of the series into an anime arena fighter. Featuring characters from the fan-favorite series, A Hero Nobody Knows provides a mammoth cast of powerful heroes and villains to choose. From Mumen Rider to Lord Boros, A Hero Nobody Knows provides the huge cast of characters and converts them into fleshed out combatants. The game also provides one of the most interesting mechanics found in an anime arena fighter. And that is what will be referred to as the “Saitama system” taking its name from the yellow-clad hero’s tendency to arrive late to the party.

This “Saitama system” is another way to refer to the character arrival mechanic. That is when a character arrives late to a battle. This can range from the titular Saitama to even the endearing Mumen Rider. Although what appears to be a clever gimmick provides some very interesting gameplay implications. Transforming how matches play out in a way that is incredibly similar to its source material.

How the Saitama System Works in One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows

How the Saitama System operates is relatively simple. It is a mechanic put into place in which a hero’s arrival to a fight will be delayed and illustrated with a camera placed underneath that player’s health bar. This is most commonly implemented when players pick the overpowered Saitama.

As mentioned this system forces powerful ally’s arrival to be delayed for a set period of time. This is commonly found in two instances, the first being during missions and side quests involving your created character. And the second being when a player picks Saitama on their team. In order to balance out local and online battles involving the titular hero, his arrival needs to be delayed. This provides some very interesting implications to the Arena Fighter’s gameplay.

How the Saitama System Affects One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows

With the system explained the question arises: how does this affect a match of A Hero Nobody Knows? And the answer is rather complicated.

For a player with Saitama on their team, this system greatly handicaps their chosen team. They are essentially fighting with a 2 man team for a majority of the match. However, given Saitama’s strength waiting for the hero to arrive is a very viable strategy. As he clearly outshines the majority of the characters found in the game. And if a team can hold out until he arrives then a win is more than likely going to occur.

For a team battling against Saitama, the match quickly becomes a race to defeat that player before the hero can arrive. This is due to Saitama’s clear strengths and the near-impossible feat in defeating him.

This makes matches involving the hero a scene straight from the series. A team will be desperately defending against an onslaught of attacks while they wait for Saitama to arrive.
