One room at the official PlayStation headquarters apparently features a giant, wall-sized depiction of a The Last of Us board game, complete with enemy roadblocks and in-game locations. Originally released in 2013, The Last of Us was heavily praised for both its graphics and story, which saw main protagonists Joel and Ellie travelling across an overgrown, apocalyptic version of the United States while trying to avoid both monsters and groups of other dangerous humans.

A sequel, The Last of Us Part 2, has been in development for quite a while and has experienced a number of delays as series creator Naughty Dog attempts to meet the assuredly high expectations of fans. Currently, The Last of Us Part 2 is scheduled to release on May 29, 2020, and as that date draws ever closer players are keeping their fingers crossed and hoping another delay does not occur. If The Last of Us Part 2’s art book is any indication, the final result will be a stunning game.

Recently, Asad Qizilbash, Head of Product at PlayStation World Wide Studios and Head of PlayStation Productions, tweeted out an image with the caption “My favorite meeting room on campus!” The meeting room in question appears rather small, but thanks to some incredible artwork it definitely looks like the best possible place to work in, especially if such work includes PlayStation games like The Last of Us. A board game-like depiction of Joel and Ellie’s journey wraps around the visible portions of the room, complete with character tokens, enemies, and ability cards showing in-game weaponry like Molotov cocktails and bricks. Check out the room, along with Naughty Dog Vice President Neil Druckmann’s response, below:

With The Last of Us Part 2 so close to release, seeing a celebration of the first game plastered on the walls at PlayStation was probably a nice moment for Druckmann, who, like many fans upon seeing the image, immediately wanted a version of it for himself. “I want this boardgame, Asad! Make it happen!”

While there’s no indication such a board game will ever actually tangibly exist for players to own, the wall display in this meeting room clearly shows that The Last of Us could make a pretty fun tabletop adventure. The journey Joel and Ellie take across the United States would translate well to the board game format, and it would likely give players a somewhat more lighthearted take on the story than they previously have experienced. For now, players will have to use their imaginations to figure out the mechanics of how such a game would work, but now that this image of the PlayStation office exists there will likely be some dedicated The Last of Us fans out there who will do just that.
