If you love emoji and want to have your say on which new ones get created, there’s now an app for that. You can even go further and make your own suggestions for a new emoji which may get created and added for others to support.

Emoji> is an emoji keyboard app, but which now also supports a request feature. This shows you emojis being considered for possible inclusion – some 147 at the time of writing. Those which get the greatest number of ‘votes’ will be turned into formal Unicode proposals by EmojiXpress.

If you prefer the web to an app, you can instead visit the EmojiRequest website, but you will need to share your Facebook details to vote. Just click on the one you want and hit the request button.

Only emoji which would meet Unicode’s criteria are shown. The most popular at present, notes Emojipedia, is the ‘sshh’ one shown above, top left, with over 2000 requests.

Emoji> is a free download from iTunes, but with in-app purchases.
