Earlier this month we reported that the NFL network was testing its NFL Now service as a channel on the Apple TV. The subscription sports service launch followed a few days later with apps for iPhone and iPad in tow, and today the Apple TV channel has arrived as well. While the football channel does not support viewing live games, it does feature highlight clips and other programs as part of the service. Here’s how NFL Now describes the service:

As mentioned above, viewers can subscribe to the NFL Now service to unlock certain content within the service.

  • NFL Now Highlights – Watch exclusive highlights on game days
  • NFL Now Video Archive – Watch on-demand archives of NFL Network and NFL Films programming
  • No Ads for Premium Videos – Watch the entire NFL Now Video archive and all NFL Now Plus Highlights without interruption

Becoming a subscriber to NFL Now costs $1.99 per month. Aside from accessing the service in the living room, NFL Now for iPhone and iPad is available on the App Store.

The newly added sports channel joins a list of other sports-related channels on the Apple TV lineup including ACC Sports, ESPN, MLB.TV, MLS, NBA, NHL, Red Bull TV, and Willow.

As part of today’s Apple TV refresh, the ESPN channel received a minor update as well with the newly launched SEC Network joining its list of content providers; the Longhorn Network which follows the University of Texas sports program was also added to this list.
